i would like to be your united states senator. >> moderator: angus king. king: we've touched on health care, energy, economy, but we haven't talked about the fact that whatever we believe about these issues, congress isn't work. that's why olympia snowe left. she didn't leave because she wanted more time. she left because she was utterly frustrated by the failure of our congress to be able to come to grips with these questions, and this isn't just an academic issue. about a month and a half ago a bill was on the floor of the united states senate to provide jobs to 20,000 veterans. it was fully funded. it lost 58-40. two senators voted for it. it needed 60 votes. because it was being subjected to a filibuster, not baas of the content of the bill, but because there was a political motivation to not let the president have a success this close to the election. i think that's a horrible way to make decisions. the question that should be asked is, what about the veterans? we need to make congress work. if you think it's working, i'm not your guy. if you want to
